Things to do in Wānaka for Nature Lovers!

Eco Adventures Wānaka can take you to some of the best locations in Wānaka & Mt Aspiring National Park for Nature Lovers.

Check out some of the highlights below!

1.       Mou Waho

The perfect half day experience for Nature Lovers visiting Wānaka. Our Mou Waho Lake Cruise & Island Nature walk gives you the experience of cruising on the lake and a short hike to the top of the island. Here we discover Arethusa’s Pool, the lake on an island, on a lake, on an island! Mou Waho is a predator-free nature reserve & as such is home to the Buff Weka, extinct on mainland New Zealand since 1920. Experience these flightless birds in their natural habitat, along with the mountain stone wetā. Before leaving the island, help us plant a tree & give back to the eco-systems on the island.

2.       Blue Pools & Bridle Track

A full day trip, starting with pick-up in Wānaka, before driving out to the start of the Blue Pools track in Mt Aspiring National Park. Our guides will take you through the native silver beech forest and on to the stunningly clear blue pools. You can spot Rainbow & Brown Trout from the swing bridge before continuing on to Cameron Flat for lunch. After lunch we take the Bridle Track and enjoy river & valley views. On your return drive to Wānaka we make sure you enjoy the stunning views of both lake Hawea & Lake Wānaka.

3.       Matukituki Valley & Rob Roy Glacier

Our Rob Roy Glacier Experience is a full-day tour, with a gourmet lunch included. We pick up in Wānaka and drive through the Matukituki Valley to reach the start of the Rob Roy Track. Enter Mt Aspiring National Park via a swing bridge and follow our guides on this 4hr return discovery walk to the face of Rob Roy Glacier! There is plenty of wildlife to take in as you walk, including the cheeky Kea!

4.       Diamond Lake & Rocky Mountain

This hike provides a slightly easier, less challenging alternative to Roy’s Peak, but still gets you those stunning views of the Lake. Whilst all the Instagram influencers come to get their 6am sunrise shots on Roy’s Peak, we offer you a more relaxing adventure, with lots of opportunities to take in the scenery, wildlife and fauna. Plenty of stops, plus expert guides to answer all your questions, we hope to leave you feeling reinvigorated and feeling closer to the natural world around you!
