A Fresh New Look - Eco Adventures Wanaka

Eco Adventures Wanaka has undergone a change of ownership & has a fresh new look this year!

But, before we introduce you to the new owners, we must thank Chris & Lee who carried the torch of ‘Eco Wanaka’ for 18 years! In that time, they planted over 10,000 trees on Mou Waho, securing the ecological survival of this protected island & it’s rare inhabitants. Their moto was ‘Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints’. But it’s safe to say this pair left a lot more than that. They left a lasting, positive impression on our environment, the Wānaka community and everybody they met on their tours! Thank you, Chris & Lee.

Now on to the new guardians of the Eco brand...

Born and raised in New Zealand, Craig discovered his deep connection to the mountains during his student years in Dunedin—escaping to Wānaka whenever the snow fell to carve tracks at Treble Cone. Even then, he vowed that one day he’d make this special place home.

These days, Craig is either out guiding or behind the scenes making the magic happen—organising trips, fixing/breaking gear, and sneaking in the necessary flat white. Whether he’s sharing alpine tales (mostly true) or swapping stories with guests from places he once called home, Craig brings heart, humour, and local knowledge to every adventure.

Then there’s Dave—who insists he’s Australian, but that thick Scottish accent says otherwise. A ski bum/instructor at Turoa in the ’90s, Dave also made a promise to live among the Southern Alps... and somehow managed to turn that vow into a full-blown lifestyle. Equal parts mountain man and mischief-maker, Dave adds Scottish/Kiwi wit, steady footing, and a knack for turning any walk into a great yarn.

Together with a team of passionate guides, Craig and Dave lead experiences designed to connect people to the wild beauty of Wānaka—through stories, stillness, and hopeful a laugh or two!
