    Guiding and conservation go hand in hand for Markus. When not leading guests, he works tirelessly on predator control to protect Wānaka’s unique wildlife. He lives by the mantra Ko au ko te taiao, ko te taiao ko au—I am nature and nature is me—and inspires others to carry that same guardianship.

    With over 20 years of guiding experience, Michael has a rare gift for noticing the subtle changes in season, weather, and forest life. His joy comes from helping guests see how the smallest details reveal the great story of nature.     Nicola Woodford

    Raised between New Zealand and Australia, Nicola’s love for Aotearoa began on a rain-soaked walk along the Routeburn in the 1980s. Now based in Wānaka, she brings a deep knowledge of local fauna and the interconnected roles each species plays. Her strength lies in bringing the forest alive with stories of the creatures that sustain it.

    Craig Throne

    Craig’s early hikes in Fiordland and Mt Aspiring unlocked a lifelong calling to this region. Having travelled widely, he is most passionate about showing guests what makes Aotearoa unique—and creating moments where we pause, listen, and feel a sense of belonging in the natural world that holds us.

    David Brown

    Originally from Scotland, David’s journey has taken him from outdoor instruction and ski teaching to coastguard rescue before settling in Wānaka with his whānau. Well-travelled and open-hearted, he helps guests see the connections we all share as one global family, and ensures they feel at home in this special landscape.

    Born near Paris, Thierry swapped city streets for mountain slopes. Since first arriving in Wānaka in 1986, he has dedicated his life to guiding, teaching, and sharing the outdoors. Equally at home rafting, canyoning, or skiing high above the valley, Thierry’s passion for adventure and storytelling makes every journey with him unforgettable.
